Herbs for Pets

Although we put an herb garden banner at its head this site is being developed to look specifically at the use of herbs in pet care. Some of the herbs used may be grown, but of course many will be bought ready-prepared. (Incidentally, if you're interested in growing your own herbs you might also like our "Growing Herbs" blog).

Pet herbs are a topic of great interest to many animal lovers who are increasingly cautious about using synthetic compounds in treatments.

We plan in the very near future to have pages covering herbs for cats, herbs for dogs and herbs for horses as well as herbs for other animals and pets more generally

Meanwhile here are some sources of herbal products for your pets:

Also we show some pet herbal books and hope that you will find these helpful. The left-hand column shows books from Amazon.co.uk for our British readers, while the right hand column shows books from Amazon.com to serve people for whom this is more geographically convenient.

Watch out for the full site coming soon.

Important Note:

It is important to stress that we do not in this site give any guarantees or warranties about the properties or effectiveness, or otherwise, of the various herbs treaments discussed. Neither can we say that the use of herbal treatments will be free from negative side effects or other undesirable consequences. Nothing here is intended to replace professional veterinary advice.

Nor indeed do we argue that there is any inherent advantage in a compound being "natural" or "organic". As even elementary school science lessons ought to teach, the crucial question is whether the active chemical ingredient is appropriate to the situation, not whether it was manufactured in a living organism or in a chemist's flask. Having said that in order to put matters somewhat into perspective, we hope that readers of the site will nevertheless find it both interesting and useful.
